Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hi friends!  I'm back again!  I'm jumping in and joining Joyce for her Wednesday Hodgepodge for the first day of the month!  How better to start a new month than with a fun linky party!

1. March has rolled right out of here! Sum up the month in ten words or less.

Chilly, stressful, insightful, growth and blessed.

2. Are you afraid of heights? When was the last time you found yourself dealing with a height, and did it make you nervous?

I am actually very afraid of heights.  I tried hard not to pass it on to my kids since I believe my Mom passed it to me, but my middle son is also.  This is going to sound really silly, but both times we have attended sports games in the last year (October we went to Bank of America stadium to see Miami and Carolina, then a few weeks ago we went to the Lenovo center to see the Hurricanes and the Penguins) I have been afraid when we got there.  The seats are stacked high and thin!  But I overcame quickly and honestly had the best time!  Fun fact, my HRV registers the highest when I'm at a sporting event.  So it must be my absolute favorite lol!

3. What's a word you struggle to spell on a regular basis, and sometimes need to double check before writing it down? Use that word in a sentence telling us about your April calendar.
Honestly, calendar lol!  Somehow I want to add an "e" to the end instead of an A.  I think maybe its the Appalachian accent that I have lol.

4. Love 'em or hate 'em, with Easter comes the sweet treats known as Peeps. So...do you love 'em or hate 'em? Speaking of Peeps, what's your favorite way to have chicken?
Yuck, they are the worst!  I do LOVE some peanut butter eggs from Reece's though, and.. ohhh.  The Cadbury eggs!!!  I really love chicken salad, and that's likely my favorite, as well as the bourbon street chicken from Applebees, yum!

5. This week's Hodgepodge lands on the first of April, which happens to be National Poetry Month. Do you like poetry? Share a favorite line or two from one of your favorite poems. What makes this one a favorite?

This one was easy, and I'm sharing the entire thing, because its stunningly beautiful!

“Life is but a Weaving” (The Tapestry Poem) by Corrie ten Boom

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.

Corrie ten Boom

6. Insert your own random thought here

I'm excited to be stepping back into the blog world again.  I've had a really hard time for a few months.  This morning I woke up and made myself to be Mary rather than Martha.  I left all the things that needed to be done to just do my devotion and bible study, and you know what?  It really put me in a good place for the day!  I have a lot of goals in April to SLOW DOWN, and enjoy my life.  To say no to some things I would normally say yes too and spend time intentionally living this life.  I have a lot of thoughts lol, so what better to do than to get back into blogging?

  1. I enjoyed your answers. Love #6. "Made myself to be Mary rather than martha". We need to do that regularly don't we! I also tried hard not to pass my fear of heights on to my daughters and so far neither has a fear of it (they're 27 and 30) so pretty sure they'll be good.

  2. Stacy,
I am so glad the blog is now where I can comment. On the others I could never comment. I always came by though. I love chicken salad too!!!
I hope you have a lovely month and take it gentle and set the pace you need. The Lord bless you in this.

  3. So many times I need to remind myself to work on my Mary side and leave Martha behind for a little time. Both Mary and Martha times are important. I want to be more of a Mary in my Martha duties, too. Thanks for sharing the Corrie Ten Boom poem. Happy Easter to you!
